A Remembery

We call these newsletters because that’s the box we have to check when we send them out into the world. But “news” feels a little too fleeting for the things we share here.

Experiences don’t stop working on us simply because the calendar moves forward.

A labyrinth walked years ago can find its way back beneath our feet. A question offered in Circle can percolate until we’re ready to hear our own answer. Something felt through movement or breath can inhabit the body long after the practice ends. A place, a person, a gathering, a moment of making something together can become essential in ways imperceptible within the moment we’re living it.

Maybe this is less a newsletter and more a remembery letter.

Remembery is a word borrowed from a child who once combined remember and memory, and somehow got closer to the truth. I love a good portmanteau, when the meaning of two words gets packed together in the same suitcase. The poignancy of remembery combines my current self looking backwards with a memory stepping forward to claim my attention. Sometimes something I’ve experienced comes forward again, meeting me differently because I am different.

There has been so much movement in and around Enrichment Project and ʻAwapuhi Labyrinth these past months. New stewardship arrived at ʻAwapuhi, bringing fresh energy, horticultural care, and a deepening relationship with the land and community. I look forward to peace on World Labyrinth Day, gathering at ʻAwapuhi as one small point in a worldwide circle, and continued into days of connection, exploration, and play across the island. And Circle widened, moving into a new monthly rhythm with more facilitators, more ways to gather, and more opportunities to practice speaking and holding truth together.

Our energy has been in navigating the waters. Maybe you can relate? Perhaps this remembery is an invitation for us all to pause for a moment before we rush toward whatever comes next.

Walking as One for Peace

In May, ʻAwapuhi became one small point in a worldwide circle as people across the globe walked labyrinths together for peace.

World Labyrinth Day brought people to ʻAwapuhi to make, walk, circle, and connect around peace.

And when the gathering ended, the connection continued: in time spent tending the land, exploring the island, deepening friendships, and even carrying the labyrinth forward in a few more permanent ways.

Some experiences end when we leave. Others keep traveling with us.

World Labyrinth Day 2027

We’re already looking ahead. With friends beginning to ask about making the journey to ʻAwapuhi for next year’s World Labyrinth Day, we’ll be planning earlier and more intentionally for a beautiful day of walking, music, creativity, and connection.

ʻAwapuhi Labyrinth: Stewarding the Spiral

A labyrinth is never really finished. It’s walked, weathered, tended, and walked again.

Every Friday morning, volunteer hands come together at ʻAwapuhi to care for the land and the labyrinth, making space for whatever will happen there next. Sometimes the work is weeding or clearing. Sometimes it is planting, repairing, or simply noticing what needs care.

Come for the caretending and stay for the companionship. This group often walks together to conclude the practice in a sublimely sweet and powerful way.

A New Moon Evening of Mindful Creation

What we make together can leave a little light behind.

On October 9, gather at ʻAwapuhi Labyrinth for an evening of mindful creation under the New Moon. Bring a clean, sanitized mason jar and we’ll provide the solar luminary lid, art supplies, and everything you need to transform it into a light for the labyrinth.

When the creating is finished, the luminaries will find their place around ʻAwapuhi, carrying a little of the evening forward.

The Circle Widens

You are warmly invited to join Wider Circles, a new monthly rhythm of virtual, co-facilitated gatherings where we practice the language of human emotion and speak our truths out loud, together.

Each month takes a slightly different shape. Some gatherings are General Circle Shares, others focus on a particular theme, and some invite a little experimentation. Different facilitators step forward, but the intention remains: to create a space where vulnerability, meaningful connection, and truth can be held with respect and care.

Simply put: Circle is one of my truths. I would love to share space with you in this way.

A Traveling Yoga Practice

Earlier this summer, I traveled through Japan with family, creating a series of yin yoga practices along the way. Each was shaped by the place, the day, and what my body and the moment were asking for.

Filmed on location, they capture the wabi-sabi impermanence and imperfection of travel. Each holds a piece of our journey, from touchdown in Tokyo through a mountain sunrise, a tea ceremony, ten-thousand torii gates, a bamboo grove, a temple full of deer, and ending back where it all started.

Enjoy these rememberies: Born in Japan, but not bound to it.

Arrival. Delight. Wonder. Resilience. Fullness. These practices meet you wherever you might be. To arrive where your feet have landed. Delight in the new. To let your heart beginning a beginning. To breathe beyond the edges you imagine. To fall down seven times and rise eight. Feel accomplishment with both eyes open.
